But you are more than just a housewife...

Being a housewife is not suffering...  It only becomes suffering when you start believing the world’s limited definition of value. You can do much more. But first — you need to see your own worth. That’s it. Not loudly. Not aggressively. Just clearly. And your worth? It is not inside the kitchen. It is not outside the kitchen. It is not in the income you are earning. It is not the income you are not earning. It is not in school meetings. It is not in the doctor appointments. It is not in taking care of your family.  It is not even in raising your children  All of that — cooking, managing, earning, nurturing, scheduling — is work. And work is something you do. But you… You are not the work. These roles — mother, wife, professional, homemaker — They are identities. And identities are parts of you. They are not you. You exist beyond the apron. Beyond the salary slip. Beyond the school runs. Beyond doctor appointments. Beyond expectations. Beyond applause. If tomorrow the rou...

Nurturing Bonds: Embracing My 7.5-Year-Old Sleeping Beside Me.

Image
Mother-son love.   I have been chastised by numerous relatives and friends alike for allowing my 7.5-year-old son to sleep beside me. Yet, I deflect their criticism with a gentle smile, for they cannot fathom the waterfall of emotions within me. They fail to grasp that I simply do not care what they think because the truth is far more profound. In the depths of my heart, I feel a mixture of sadness and longing. I fondly recall the days when my little one, at just one year old, would peacefully slumber beside me, clutching my hand with tiny fingers. There were moments when he would awaken during the night, seeking solace and desiring my comforting presence. I can still sense the delicate caress of his hand tracing my face. Those times held immense significance and remain etched in my memory, yet they couldn't endure indefinitely. They gracefully slipped away, akin to a beautiful dance. These memories evoke a deep longing within me as I witness my son growing up and the relentless pa...

A journey for self-discovery!

Source : Google The sun, although a seemingly ordinary star in the  universe, located in the Milky Way galaxy holds the solar system together. Apart from being the center of the solar system, it provides the  warmth and light indispensable to the life on Earth and maintaining our planet's delicate ecosystem by its energy. The dominance of sun in our lives can never be overstated as the rising of it signals the starts of the day and its setting marks the arrival of darkness.  However, we can learn some valuable lessons on our perceptions and emotions by observing the effect of sun in our lives in different seasons.  I remember my childhood days, sitting on the porch of our home during winter vacations, baskin in the sun's rays, feeling its warmth seeping into my bones. During that time, I did not pay any heed to effects of prolonged sun's exposure on my skin (sunburns) or my mother's concerns about my brown skin getting more darker. My love for bathing in sun ray...

That girl!

There was a girl whose parents gave her the chance to study and learn. They motivated her to choose her path and weave her dreams. She fueled her dreams with hopes and desires. She dreamt of ambitions, creating value and financial independence. She grew up. She loved her career. Of course, there were ups and downs, disappointments and dissatisfactions. Still, at the end of the day, she knew she could still live up to her dreams if she kept trying. She got married to a charming guy who supported her dreams and career. Eventually, she had kids. She never contemplated how much dedication her children required from her. She always thought of having kids and raising them as a temporary condition rather than a permanent one. She thought she could also sail this boat. Naive she was, she did not know it was easier thought than done.  For time being, she tried to manage everything - home, children, and work. As she still had a place for her dreams in her mind. But slowly, she started to fee...

Words and words are all we have......

One of the most important landmarks for human development is the invention of language. There are about  7099 languages  spoken in the world. Have you ever imagined how mesmerizing it is that every language has its own set of letters, and those letters come together to make words? Those words make everything else. The captivating stories we listen to and read, the love and sadness we express, every emotion we want to share or write need words, a whole lot of them! You must have observed words can bring an immense change in one's life. Words can make someone merry or gloomy, motivate or discourage, excite or depress, cause confusion or certainty, and much more. Hence, never underestimate the power of words. Always think before you speak. As your words can make or break a life. When I was a kid, my grandfather used to say now and then to me:  “कमान से निकला तीर और मुंह से निकली बात वापस नहीं आती|” ( English Translation:  The arrow from the command and the words that ca...

Homework made fun for a kindergarten!

My son studies in U.K.G./Prep/Senior K.G., whatever name you call it- the class below class I. Sometimes he finds completing his homework repelling and boring. He remarkably portrays his denial of work by writing clumsily and making rebelling sounds. Yesterday was one of such days. Usually, I get frustrated and show my displeasure by taking his notebooks and ask him not to study from now on. He revolts, thus, creating a scene, wasting a lot of time until he again agrees to finish his work of the day. I decided to try a different strategy yesterday. I narrated a fictional story. When I was a teenager, one day during class, our Maths teacher gave us a difficult question for homework. He instructed us not to ask the solution from our respective tuition teachers and not to discuss it with friends. Back in our days, we did not have easy access to google and its resources. We had to consult our books. No one in our class could find the solution to the problem. The next day, when the class be...
