Happy Birthday Ratan Tata!

Ratan Naval Tata turns 84 today. He is a philanthropist and an Industrialist. He needs no introduction. On his birthday, here are some of his quotes to brighten your day and inspire your life: 1. "None can destroy iron, but its own rust can. Likewise, none can destroy a person but his own mindset can." We fail sometimes, it is upon us whether we decide to let it go or give it one more try. We are what our attitude is. 2. "Ups and downs in life are very important to keep us going because a straight line even in an ECG means we are not alive." Do you remember the roller coaster ride or the big Ferris wheel ride? How thrilled did you feel? Likewise, life will keep challenging you and comforting you simultaneously. This process is in repeat mode and keeps life mysterious, interesting, and alive. 3. "Take the stones people throw at you. And use them to build a monument." Criticism is an invincible part of life. Choose wisely, which criticism is worth taking in ...

Words and words are all we have......

One of the most important landmarks for human development is the invention of language. There are about  7099 languages  spoken in the world. Have you ever imagined how mesmerizing it is that every language has its own set of letters, and those letters come together to make words? Those words make everything else. The captivating stories we listen to and read, the love and sadness we express, every emotion we want to share or write need words, a whole lot of them! You must have observed words can bring an immense change in one's life. Words can make someone merry or gloomy, motivate or discourage, excite or depress, cause confusion or certainty, and much more. Hence, never underestimate the power of words. Always think before you speak. As your words can make or break a life. When I was a kid, my grandfather used to say now and then to me:  “कमान से निकला तीर और मुंह से निकली बात वापस नहीं आती|” ( English Translation:  The arrow from the command and the words that ca...

Live for yourself!

Do you remember a day when you failed terribly at something you loved or a day when you felt so lonely that you decided to give up your life? But, it is commendable of you to be still alive and doing well and reading this! Sometimes we think of taking our lives, and seldomly we try it too. Some succeed also. We have many spiritual and social theories about not giving up our lives. Today I will discuss the biological reasons to keep ourselves alive. We, humans, have gone through many transitions from our ape-like structure over the millenniums (3,15,000 years, to be exact!) to be us. Your ancestors have survived many things over lacs years like natural calamities, wars, etc., to transfer their genes without breaking the chain to bring you on Earth. I think this asto...

Rewatching Zindagi na Milegi Dobara movie after a decade!

Image
Src: Rotten Tomatoes Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara (ZNMD) is a movie about friendship, exploring thyself, and vanquishing the worst fears. When I first watched this movie during my college time, my heart filled with ecstasy and avidity. I wanted to see the world, wanted to have a splendid and heart-filling bachelorette with my best friends, and meet new people along the way. These were the dreams ZNMD had filled in my eyes and overwhelmed my heart every time I watched the movie. Living my life after college made me forget these dreams and the movie. It was pleasant to see my teenage nieces watch this movie with all the fervor a few days back. No doubt movie has the charisma to keep the youngs engaged. The timed dialogues, unbreakable friendship, breath-taking cinematography, beautiful direction, melodious music, and poetry keep the audience on a joyride. It struck me while watching the movie that I have lost the thrill of the movie. It does not belong with me anymore for the reasons I used ...

Homework made fun for a kindergarten!

My son studies in U.K.G./Prep/Senior K.G., whatever name you call it- the class below class I. Sometimes he finds completing his homework repelling and boring. He remarkably portrays his denial of work by writing clumsily and making rebelling sounds. Yesterday was one of such days. Usually, I get frustrated and show my displeasure by taking his notebooks and ask him not to study from now on. He revolts, thus, creating a scene, wasting a lot of time until he again agrees to finish his work of the day. I decided to try a different strategy yesterday. I narrated a fictional story. When I was a teenager, one day during class, our Maths teacher gave us a difficult question for homework. He instructed us not to ask the solution from our respective tuition teachers and not to discuss it with friends. Back in our days, we did not have easy access to google and its resources. We had to consult our books. No one in our class could find the solution to the problem. The next day, when the class be...

Hey Genie🧞! My wish is......

I have watched Disney's fantasy movie Alladin starring Will Smith and Netflix's new animation, wish dragon, within a week. Thanks to my son. The end of both, Alladin and wish dragon, is uplifting and delightful. Both movies have many similarities and share many positive values like kindness, friendship, love, and strong leadership and negative values like obsession, power-hunger, and hatred, among many others. Lovely these movies are, as they keep love and friendship over wealth and power. I hope my son also learns some of them.  Since I have watched the movies, I can not help to think, what if I had a genie? What would be my three wishes be (both the flicks stick to three wishes)? The first wish is I am sure of is a corona-free or any such kind of disease-free world. Because of this ongoing lockdown, many small businesses have been closed permanently. They have little or no financial aid. Also, many children are suffering mentally and physically. These online classes don't...

A trip to Kakolem Beach Goa

Image
The smallest Indian state, perceived as a party destination by most, Goa has more to it. Goa flaunts its rich architectural history, colorful carnival , 160 km long coastline, and the 7 major rivers quite proudly. Nature has been fully kind to Goa while blessing it with beauty. The first few trips are usually swallowed by the booze and the parties. Then, you start to explore the state. Goa has only two districts- North Goa and South Goa. This time we decided to spend our four months in South Goa. My husband chose a small town, Canacona. We could not be happier. Canacona deserves a full article so I will leave the details to my next article. This article tries to explore a lesser-known beach  Kakolem . About Kakolem Beach Kakolem Beach on Google Ma p Also known as Tiger Beach, Kakolem beach is a ravishing and lust-green beauty known by few people. It is one of the most unexplored and secluded places. Unlike its South Goa peers (Palolem Beach, Patnem Beach, Agonda Beach, Cola Beach, ...

Need for Emotion Read!

You open your social media site(Instagram or Facebook or whatever). While scrolling through your feed, you come across one of your acquaintances. She is vacationing in Switzerland. A chain of thoughts starts in your mind. She is married to a handsome boy, both of them earn good and settled abroad. They spend their vacations in a foreign country. Wow! What an amazing life she has.  You just started comparing between you and her in your mind. How is her life is better than yours? That picture of her in Switzerland brought out the failure in you. The things you did not achieve. This is how we measure. We measure everything in either success or failure. For us, our life is these two poles. The favored one is, of course, success. We indulge all our energy by focusing on the final destination of being successful and perpetually thinking about it. We don't even spare a glance at the path we take as we forget life happens between success and failure. Life happens through our emotions, our ...
